Online university programs are increasingly popular. In a financial crisis, going back to school may temporarily halt crippling student loan payments and taking online classes can mean higher wages and more career opportunities. Online universities offer a variety of degree programs for those seeking to attend college online.
University of Phoenix Online University Programs
The University of Phoenix offers several online classes. Because their original mission statement was to serve professionals, they have created distance learning programs in conjunction with local community colleges and online. University degree programs can be earned entirely online with Phoenix and students appreciate the short nine-week terms, allowing many to finish classes faster than they planned.
The University of Phoenix houses seven colleges. The Axia College offers associates degrees in hospitality services. They also have the college of arts and sciences, the colleges of business and management, offering an online MBA and online bachelor's degree. Additionally, they offer the college of education, the college of health and human services, the college of information systems and technology. Finally, the school of advanced studies offers online PhDs and the University of Phoenix specialized division offers domestic military degrees.
Degree Programs at the University of Illinois
The online classes from the University of Illinois are actually offered individually from three University of Illinois campuses, those of Chicago, Springfield and Urbana-Champaign. Students browse through offerings that are compiled through each University and then apply for and enroll in the University that offers the degree program they're looking for. In that way, it is more of a network of three Universities, since no one is really enrolled in the University of Illinois itself.
Since the network is made up of three large universities, the online classes that are offered by the University of Illinois system are diverse. They offer certificates, an online associates degree, online bachelor's, online masters as well as an online PhD. Students have access to all of the colleges in the university system. While the selection isn't as diverse as Phoenix university, Illinois does offer programs that the university of Phoenix doesn't offer.
Regis University Degree Programs Online
Regis University is a Catholic Institution based in Colorado. US News and World Report ranked the Regis University as one of the top schools in the Western United States for over twelve years. Like other online universities, Regis offers on-campus and online classes.
Shopping around for an online degree program isn't as tricky as it sounds. Either browse the offerings at several universities, send away for information and work closely with admissions counselors. Or, fill out a FAFSA and find out what you're entitled to, then shop for courses and programs that are within your budget. Consider the relief of not having to pay student loans while you're taking your online MBA or online PhD. Pay attention to enrollment deadlines and be sure to choose an online degree program that will further your career goals.
