There are several schools you can apply to in your second year to focus your studies, such as the School of Business, The School of Communication, The Mason Gross School of the Arts, and the School of Engineering.

Life on College Avenue Campus

Across the street from the dorms is the Rutgers Student Center. There you can pass the time playing billiards and video game machines. The Student Center also hosts several guest speakers and comics every year for your entertainment.

Next to the Student Center is the gymnasium where you can play basketball or lift weights to stay in shape. The gym also hosts musical concerts every year. There are also many different intramural sports that you can play and organizations that you can join.

You also develop a camaraderie with your floormates. You'll find yourself spending hours together playing video games, cards, or just hanging out in the lounge chatting. On weekends (and sometimes weekdays) you can unwind from a tough week of studying by going to a party at one of many fraternities located within walking distance from the dorms. You can even join a frat or a sorority if you're willing to go through the initiation process.

Many students complain about the food at Brower Commons, the campus cafeteria. For those, there are other options. On select days, there is take-out available. One day there is pasta, one day chicken nuggets or spicy hot wings, and one day delicious subs made fresh just for you. In the Student Center there is a Wendy's, a pizza place, a Chinese food place, and a cheesesteak place. There are also several places around campus for good Italian or Chinese fast food.
